Provider Inventory
Besides sites and devices, inventory providers can sync additional object types - racks, prefixes, circuits, whatever the provider models. They all live on one page: Inventory > Objects, whose heading carries a picker naming which type the table below is showing.
A plugin declares every type it can serve, which is a much longer list than any one estate holds: the NetBox plugin alone declares every family NetBox models, and a provider reads the few its configuration names. So the picker offers the types that have rows rather than every registered one, and a type appears in it once something has synced it. Unticking a type on a provider (see Choose which object types to sync) marks its rows stale, which takes it out of the picker on the next sync.
Each type has its own address, /inventory/<type>, so a view is shareable and a bookmark keeps working - including for a type that currently has no rows, which the picker still offers while you are on it. Choosing a different type keeps any provider filter you had set, since a provider scopes every type the same way, and drops the per-type column filters, which do not mean anything against another type's columns.
Browsing objects
The list shows the columns the provider's manifest declares for the type, plus a Provider badge naming the provider that reported the row and a Status badge with the object's sync state. One type page lists every provider's rows together, so the same prefix reported by two providers is two rows, told apart by that badge. Objects the provider stopped reporting stay listed and read stale (hover the badge for when they were last seen), so a prefix or VLAN that vanished upstream is visible rather than silently gone. Filter any column, sort, and page through the results; the Provider filter is a pick-list of providers, and the selection is kept in the page's ?provider= query string so the link can be shared. Click a row (or its Details arrow) to open the object.
The detail page has two cards:
- Identity - type, name, external ID, provider, and status.
- Attributes - every attribute the provider supplied, as-is.
These pages are read-only
Provider objects mirror an external system, so there is nothing to create, edit, or delete here - the provider stays the source of truth. If an object looks wrong or missing:
- Fix it in the provider (for example NetBox). When the provider supplies a link to its own page for the object, the detail page shows an Open in provider link that takes you straight there.
- Open Settings → Inventory Providers, select the provider, and click Sync Now (or wait for its automatic sync interval).
The provider's detail page also shows the last sync result and a sync history. An empty list with "Objects appear here after a provider that serves this type syncs." simply means no sync has delivered objects of this type yet.
